Infrastructure procurement in the age of responsibility

It is a pleasure for LCM to be invited as an ‘expert’ to talk at this discussion on procurement in Rail.

Sustainable procurement delivers long-term value for money by: reducing whole life costs, protecting reputation, future proofing supply chains and investments making them viable in the long-term minimising damage to the environment and health whilst maximising social benefits.

Fuel can play a big part in this; from specifying what fuel to buy, to maintaining its quality in storage, using it in high performance, low emission engines so that when it used it burns cleanly,.producing low emissions and minimal  particle and NO2 output.

This is part of the RICS series of workshops looking at different aspects of sustainable procurement.

As a specialist LCM feel the importance of fuel and maintaining fuel quality is a very important but often overlooked aspect of sustainable procurement.
