Les Carroll: 1cm away from being UK National Champion!

It is not every 60 year old who decides to come out of sporting retirement to return to accuracy parachuting. This is what LCM’s Head of Industrial Services, Les Carroll did last year.

After a year of training and UK competitions, Les competed last week at the British National Championships in Accuracy at Swansea. He was placed second and was just 1 cm away from Gold!  This qualifies him for the British Team at the World Accuracy Championships which take place in 2018.

Les has a long history of success in parachuting having started whilst in the British Army. He moved into accuracy jumping some 20 years ago and became UK and World Champion. After leaving the forces Les retired from the sport.  However last year he thought about a return, had a few jumps and felt that he was up to it and has set his goal on becoming World Champion again next year.

Accuracy jumping involves jumping out of a plane at 5000 ft and is scored by jumping onto a cushion with the maximum points being gained from hitting a small 4cm diameter target.

Many congratulations Les, respect!
